A photographic narrative set in three Mediterranean Sea-side countries, Italy, Spain and Morocco, among Europe’s and the world’s largest exporters of vegetables and fruits.
Female laborers who pick strawberries, red fruits, and tomatoes we eat on our plates are not only paid less than men, they are also sexually harassed, blackmailed, assaulted, and raped.
There is an underreporting of abuse. Reporting these crimes is objectively difficult.
The exhibition consists of 21 photos and four descriptive panels of 55 cm x 70 cm each, as well as 21 captions of 30 cm x 15 cm.
From April 2018 to the present, the photos have been exhibited in several Italian universities, schools, libraries, shopping malls, and public spaces. In 2018 the pictures were screened at the European Parliament in Brussels and in 2019 in Luxembourg with the NGO Time for Equality.
